G&O SafePage 3000™

Wireless paging, info & dead man alarm system

The Safepage 3000™ system is a wireles portable two-ways communication system providing crew on ships, oil rigs, production platforms and other locations, the possibility to move freely around the vessel or area and always be in contact with the remaining crew via the Master Unit.

The system is designed and approved for usage in intrinsically safe areas (EeX) and is, contrary to other communication systems, supplying an unique radio coverage all over the vessel using very few components e.g. easy to install. The system typical consists of a number of Portable Units (EeX), a Master Unit (e.g. on the bridge), 1-2 Repeaters (one on deck and one in the engine room) and 1 central Antenna

  • Wireless uhf two-way communications
  • Extremely good coverage!
  • Eex approved!
  • Transmits alarms from ex. alarm systems!
  • Contains dead man alarm timer!
  • Emergency call/call back!
  • Programmable!

The SafePage 3000™ system provides a Wireless Paging, Data Exchange/Information & Safety Monitoring of up to eight engineers when working alone in remote areas (e.g. cargo area and engine room) allowing the engineers to move freely around. There is an emergency button and Dead Man Alarm timer function in the portable unit at which the engineers at regular intervals can report that they are in good health. Otherwise, the officer on the bridge is alerted by a Dead Man Alarm raised on the Master Unit.

  • "Paging / Call Back"
If the engineer is requested to contact the bridge, he can be paged manually from the Master Unit by a simple key-press. Alternatively, he can be paged automatically e.g. by the vessel's general alarm system or fire detection system.

  • Pre-defined Messages
Pre-defined messages, e.g. "Fire Alarm" or "Contact Chief Eng.", can be transmitted from the Master Unit to the handsets. 4 of these messages can also be transmitted from the handset to the master. The predefined messages can be changed on the Master Unit.

  • ASM - Automatic Short Messages
Inputs to the Master Unit can initiate transmission of pre-defined messages,e.g. "Fire Alarm" or "Bilge Alarm", to the handsets when an input is activated. It can be defined which of these ASM messages is transmitted to one or more of the Handset Units. The predefined ASM messages can be changed on the Master Unit.

  • Free Text Messages
A free text message can be written on the Master Unit and transmitted to one or to all Handset.

  • Safe Communication
Using a safe frequency band, which is not disturbed by other electronic devices such as walkie-talkies and radars, ensures safe communication between the Master Unit and the Portable

The Master Unit is supposed to be mounted inside the bridge (or in the Cargo Control Room) and consist of a box comprising the electronic equipment and a separate external antenna. The Master Unit contains a graphic LCD-display with dimmable back-light for indication of alarms and system status, a keypad for acknowledge of alarms, paging, dimmer and system set-up and finally a LED for "Alarm" indication.

The antenna is ruggedly designed to operate in all weather condition and is connected to the Master Unit via a coaxial cable. It has several digital inputs and outputs and 2 RS232 and 1 RS485 serial ports.

The Portable Handset (EeX) contains a graphic LCD-display with back-light for indication of alarms and system status, a keypad for reset of the Dead Man Alarm timer, Emergency Call and activation of the back-light for the display. Finally, the handset contains three LEDs indicating "Alarm", "Paged" and "Battery Low". When not in use, the portable handset is placed in a battery charger unit.

The Repeater Unit consists of a water resistant box (IP65) containing the electronic parts and a separate antenna.

Easy Installation
The SafePage 3000™ system configuration will for each installation be designed according to the ship's lay-out, but on most vessels, the whole accommodation, deck and cargo area can be covered by the Master Unit only. In case that further coverage is required (e.g. the engine room), additional Repeaters might be considered.
